Every other Wednedsay, I will be taking a quick look at some of the top prospects at the Low-A level and below, including their stats for the season, and if anything stands out about the performance. The season stats may not always tell us the whole story, but there are usually also some updates on how they are doing these things as opposed to just the numbers themselves. All statistics are courtesy of Fangraphs.com, and are through the games of Monday, 7/15/13.

- Although the Blue Jays weren't able to get their top draft pick signed before the deadline, they did use some of the extra slot money they had from other picks to bring in both Jake Brentz and Rowdy Tellez. Both were ranked in the top 100 by Baseball America, but fell due to signability concerns.
- Al Yellon of Bleed Cubbie Blue asks who top draft pick Kris Bryant will become, and I think the Cubs would be pretty happy with the answer.
- We saw a number of the top draft picks start their professional careers, including Hunter Renfroe, Reese McGuire, and Clint Frazier.
- Joey Gallo is up to 26 home runs on the season, but he also hit the disabled list last week with a strained groin muscle.
- Over the Monster took a look at the Red Sox' short-season affiliate, including an update on top prospect Manuel Margot.
- Craig Goldstein took a look at Astros' 3B prospect Rio Ruiz and Rays' OF prospect Andrew Toles recently.
- Andrew Ball looked at three possible outcomes for Astros' SS Carlos Correa.
- Phillies' prospect Roman Quinn will be out for the next month or so with a hairline fracture of his left wrist.

- I took a look at Nationals' prospect Lucas Giolito, and asked whether his ceiling has changed at all due to his injury. I also looked at Blue Jays' pitching prospect Roberto Osuna as well.
- We saw Mark Appel make his debut, making a start in short season ball before being promoted to full season Low-A.
- Kevin Nielsen attended the Futures Game on Sunday, and gave his thoughts on what he saw from the top prospects there.
- Marc Hulet of Fangraphs released his updated top 50 prospects on Tuesday, with the just promoted Robert Stephenson as his highest ranked Low-A prospect at #9. Correa is his top Low-A prospect still at Low-A.
- Jeff Reese of Bullpen Banter provided an in-depth scouting report on Dodgers' prospect Julio Urias.
